Microsoft Integration FAQs
What are the Merlyn Mind and Microsoft Integrations?
In the July/August 2022 Merlyn Mind update, there are a few new Microsoft integrations:
- PowerPoint Web Browser Integration.
- Edge Browser Support
- Microsoft Single Sign-On.
How does Merlyn Mind integrate with Microsoft PowerPoint on the web browser?
Similar to the integrations with Google Slides, you can now control your web-based PowerPoint presentations using voice requests and the remote control. Within a web-based PowerPoint, say:
- "Start presentation”
- “Exit the presentation”
- “Go to the beginning/end”
- “Go to slide number 6”
- “Go to the first/last slide”
- “Start presenting from slide 9”
- “Go to next/previous slide”
- “Go back/forward two slides"
You can also use the Remote Control and Air Mouse to navigate web-based Power Point presentations. Please note: you cannot open presentations by name. You must use air mouse to open a presentation.
Does Merlyn Mind work with the Microsoft PowerPoint desktop app?
Currently Merlyn Mind is only integrated with web-based PowerPoint presentations.
What are the current limitations of the web-based PowerPoint integrations?
At this time, it's not possible to use voice commands to play videos and open links within slides. As a workaround, you can use your Air Mouse on the remote control to play videos and open links within slides.
How does Merlyn Mind integrate with the Edge browser?
Following the July/August 2022 update, you can use Merlyn Mind to navigate tabs and websites on your Edge browser. To get started with Edge, first download the Merlyn Mind browser extension on your Edge browser. From here, log into the Teacher Portal at teacher.merlyn.org and pair your computer using the code on your classroom display if it is not paired automatically. You can now use Symphony Classroom with your Edge browser.
What is Microsoft Single Sign-On?
Teachers and schools can now use their school-provided Microsoft credentials to log into Merlyn Mind.
