How do I pair my Computer to Symphony Classroom?

Windows and Mac

1. Connect your computer to Symphony Classroom via HDMI.

2. Start the Merlyn Desktop App, if it is not already running.

   1. NOTE: The Merlyn Desktop App runs in the background and opens automatically at startup. You should only need to open the app again if it has been manually closed.

3. Open Chrome.

   1. NOTE: If the Merlyn Browser Extension has been installed in the browser, a new tab with Merlyn Teacher Portal should open automatically.

4. Merlyn automatically pairs.

Chrome OS

1. Connect your computer to Symphony Classroom via HDMI.

2. Open Chrome.

   1. NOTE: If the Merlyn Browser Extension has been installed in the browser, a new tab with Merlyn Teacher Portal should open automatically.

3. Merlyn automatically pairs.

 

Manual Pairing

In some classroom setups, Merlyn software is not able to detect that it is connected to Symphony Classroom device. This is sometimes due to HDMI dongles or other accessories that interfere with identifying a connected device. See our compatible device list for suggested accessories that should work.

Alternatively, you may manually pair with your Symphony Classroom device by:

1. Start the Merlyn Desktop App, if it is not already running.

2. Open Chrome.

   1. NOTE: If the Merlyn Browser Extension has been installed in the browser, a new tab with Merlyn Teacher Portal should open automatically.

3. On your classroom display, use the Merlyn remote to bring up the Merlyn home screen.

4. Enter the code shown on the Merlyn home screen into the Teacher Portal tab on your computer.
